Dear Almaden neighbors,
My name is Kairong and I am a 12-year Almaden resident. Together with my wife Jing Ma and a group of volunteers, we have been organizing the local Chinese American community to donate personal protective equipment (PPE) and other related supplies. We have collected 3 batches of supplies and delivered them to the Valley Medical Center Foundation (VMC) and Kaiser hospital in Santa Teresa. You may find all items we donated here .
As you know, the COVID-19 pandemic has been developing rapidly across the United States. In last few days, the number of confirmed cases of infection has skyrocketed. This unprecedented situation has put enormous risk on our local doctors and nurses, as well as our senior citizens.
The medical supplies from personal donations are extremely limited. We are calling the community to help raise fund to purchase more supplies when they become available in the next few weeks. We are targeting to raise $5000 and plan to use the money in the following ways:
1. We will use half of the collection for cash donation or to purchase medical supplies for our local doctors and nurses.
2. The other half will be used to purchase non-medical grade supplies for our senior citizens that live in Almaden.
No matter how much money we raise, we will donate the entire amount to help our vulnerable citizens. Later we will publish all the donation spending on this website. All senior citizens in Almaden are welcome to contact us if you need basic protection gear such as facial masks, hand sanitizes or soaps.
